On Tuesday 11th February, as part of their Geography learning, Year 2 travelled by coach into London to visit the British Film Institute (BFI) Southbank. On arrival they were greeted by their host for the morning, David, and shown into a screening room where they would be going ‘Around the World in 80 Films’.
Throughout the morning, they watched short films and animations about different countries and animals from across the globe. They started by looking at a huge map of the world and a short film shot from the International Space Station – it was incredible! They ‘visited’ Australia, Death Valley, Dubai, Quebec, Russia, Iceland, Hawaii, India, South Africa and Iceland. After each film they had a discussion about what they had seen.
Thomas said, ‘We went to London. We saw some stars and the Northern Lights. I had a fantastic trip! We saw the Arctic from space and some capital cities’.
