On Friday 18th October, Year 2 visited MOD Pizza in Borehamwood. This was part of their DT lessons this term for which they are learning about health, safety and hygiene whilst preparing food.
On arrival at MOD Pizza they were given a picture to colour which encouraged them to ‘Dream Big.’ In groups of four, they went into the kitchen area to learn how to make their very own pizzas. The MOD staff were on hand to guide them throughout with lots of tips on how to make the perfect pizza. After putting on gloves which Poppy-Mai discovered was ‘so no one else touches the pizza’, the children loaded up their own portion of pizza. Some went for their favourite toppings however some were more adventurous and tried something new. Etta said, ‘I didn’t know you could put pineapple on pizza!’ Kevin tried bacon for the first time on his pizza and proclaimed it ‘delicious!’ Dennis put pepperoni and olives on his.
Once their pizzas were loaded with toppings, they gave a shout of ‘PIE UP!’ to let the chef know that a pizza was ready to be cooked. Daniel saw the fire in the pizza oven and was very careful to keep a safe distance. The children then thoroughly enjoyed eating their freshly baked pizzas.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at MOD Pizza for inviting our class to find out all about making pizzas and the steps they take to ensure our food is safe.
The children were fantastically behaved throughout the morning; in the restaurant and on the walk to and from the school.
