As part of their DT learning, Year 2 were asked to build freestanding structures using cocktail sticks and gummy sweets. As they worked together to build, they were keen to find out what would work well and would not be structurally sound. They needed to ensure that their structures were strong and stable – this was quite a challenge! Ultimately they realised that they needed to make sure that all the sides were strengthened, with some finding that placing cocktail sticks at different angles worked well. There were some really creative solutions!
