A nurturing, one-form entry primary school in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
As Year 3 enter Key Stage 2, we work hard to ease their transition through a carefully structured increase in expectations.
The most noticeable change for the children is that they will now have their lunch at 12:30, so do make sure that your children have a snack at break time – don’t forget they can buy healthy snacks at our tuck shop.
Year 3 learn through a wide range of fantastic topics, including visits from pirates, exploring the Scottish Highlands and discovering facts about the Romans in Britain. Click on the links below for more information:
At Kenilworth, we ask our children to complete half termly ‘home learning grids’ for their homework. This enables children to practise a wide range of skills at home and to share their learning across the curriculum.
We also fully understand the impact of regular reading on a child’s development. Therefore we ask for every child to read a minimum of 3 times per week.
For more information regarding our homework policy, please visit the homework page.
Starting in 2020, all Year 4 pupils will be sitting a times tables assessment. This assessment will be testing pupils knowledge of times tables, up to and including 12 x 12. In Year 3, we expect the children to know or learn the 2, 5, 10 3, 4 and 8 times tables (in this order).
The test will be taken on the computer, giving the children an eight second window to input the answers. An example of how the test might look can be found at: Maths Frame Multiplication Game
