In Year 2, the children have really been enjoying learning how to regroup ten ones for a ten through playing games. Last week we played ‘Make 100’, ‘Make £1’, ‘Make 0’ and ‘Make 0p’. The children’s confidence in regrouping has grown tremendously and most importantly – they have enjoyed every second of it. Our buzzing mathematicians are growing with confidence daily.
To play Make 100, pairs took it in turns to roll dice and make the total on their tens frames using Base-10 resources. When a tens frame was filled, the ten ones were regrouped for a ten and the game continued. The aim was to Make 100 and everybody was really pleased that they managed to do it.
