Sadly, we were unable to enjoy our annual World Book Day together in March due to the lockdown but we have made up for it through our ‘Twisted Tales’ writing project. To kick start the summer term, our children have been exploring alternative versions of classic fairy tales. Each class has been looking at a different book:-
Nursery: Jack and the Beanstalk Reception: You Choose Fairy Tales by Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart Year 1: Blow Your Nose Big Bad Wolf by Steven Smallman Year 2: Rapunzel by Bethan Woollvin Year 3: Goldilocks and Just One Bear by Leigh Hodgkinson Year 4: Into the Forest by Anthony Browne Year 5: The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig by Eugene Trivizas Year 6: Hansel and Gretel by Anthony Browne
The children have been inspired by these stories and they have produced some fantastic writing as a result. We will be displaying the finished pieces around the school next week to showcase the children’s hard work.
To end the project, the children were invited to dress up as their favourite book character on Friday 23rd April and they did not disappoint! We were so impressed with their creative, exciting responses. Take a look below:
